Products can be effectively advertised through radio as many studies have proven that it is a good medium. Latest music or radio programs are usually listened to by people for entertainment purposes, therefore advertisements on products and services are played between the programs.

Advertising has followed this trend for many years. However, now that other mediums are ahead of the radio such as the internet and television, the benefits of advertising through audio must be strengthened through new marketing strategies.

Using music on websites has been discovered to be beneficial as opposed to when the internet only offered mp3 forms of downloadable music. Companies gained traffic into their websites through the use of hosting downloadable music on their servers. It is known across the internet marketing community that product and service sales are boosted through traffic on a website.

Although, millions of revenues have been lost by artists, musicians and record companies due to the influx of the persisting illegal music downloads.

Music streaming over the internet then became popular, where download of the music files is not allowed on radio streaming unlike the former. Therefore record label owners and artists are protected without violation of copyright laws.

How can you do this? Streaming audio from your site can be done in a number of ways. To begin with, your site or blog may stream a radio program which can be found on many free affiliate programs.

The meaning of this for you. Every time your site is visited, listeners will have new audio content to listen to and this is updated without any of your efforts, which is great!

Signing up with an internet radio station is recommended, and then your blog or website may embed the link for this radio station, in order to keep the music dynamic.

Alternative methods for stream mp3s. Adding file links to your page after uploading them to a server is a good way to stream mp3s. The browser plays this file in an open window of a media player when the file link is clicked on your site or blog. However, this does mean that the file may still be downloaded as it is in the mp3 format. Therefore you must have the appropriate type of permit to allow this form of streaming, as you will be held responsible for the authorization of downloading these music files and it is illegal to breach the copyright laws.

Organized play lists can stream music to your blog or website which can be a third way to add audio to your page. M3u files will not play music if downloaded and the computer is offline, which are generally the files added to play lists. However, it can work out to be complex to use this process; therefore the following is a brief introduction on how to do it:

1. on the server, save your wma or mp3 files. If the file exists on another server that you know of and are aware of the link to that specific file, you may skip this step, just making sure that the file has got an the mp3 or wma extension.

2. Type the path to the file in your opened text editor, including the file extension and the http://. Until you have added all the files you desire to be in the play list, keep repeating this step.

3. The play list should always be saved with an m3u extension so that others are unable to download the files and listen whilst offline.

4. Your server or the directory where the music files are hosted may also host the m3u file, which is where you should upload it.

5. The m3u file’s link should be embedded into your html editor. Within this, you can decide whether your visitor to the site can control the play list and what they choose to hear, or if it should be on auto play. This is also where the volume level may be set.

Once this is done, the songs within the play list will be buffered, streamed and played one after another whenever your site is visited because the code is embedded on the html file in your directory. The media player controls allows the user to skip back and forward through the play list if it has several songs.

Many website owners find that this setup has worked for them. The type of music played on your site can be customized through this and in order to boost product awareness, you are even able to play files which may be related to your product.

To add streaming music to your website, knowledge of html and codes is required, but assistance from programmers is available if you find that it is the effective increasing traffic to your site, which ultimately is going to increase sales and has been proven to do so.
