Do You Make These Internet Marketing Mistakes?

Internet marketing can be a provider of a good and steady income to the person who knows what he or she is doing. But it’s not just about knowing what to do. It’s also about knowing what not to do. Listed below are 4 of the most common Internet marketing mistakes, as well as advice on how to correct them.

Lack of focused action. 90% of people who try to make money online never make a substantial income for themselves. Why not?

They keep bouncing from one thing to another. There are SO many different ways to make money online, and nearly all of them sound good! And while yes, many of them are good, nobody can do all of them at once.

The only solution is to stay focused and complete each project you start. Many Internet marketing models require some kind of maintenance after an initial set-up. What you want to focus on is finishing each initial set-up before you move on to the next. If you don’t, then you don’t stand a chance in this business.

Focusing on yourself instead of on your customers. Of course you are in this business in order to make money. Ironically, though, you won’t make much if you wake up each morning and think, "How can I make the most money for myself today?"

No, the true way to make money is to wake up thinking, "How can I provide value for my customers today?" Because guess what? People are selfish! If you want them to give you money, you’ve got to appeal to their self-interest.

This doesn’t mean that you have to operate a charity. Rather, you have to concentrate on providing more value to your potential customers than anybody else in your niche. Serve your customers with a good product and excellent service, and they’ll reward you with a sustainable online income.

Failing to treat Internet business like a business. For some reason, many people want to treat Internet marketing like a hobby. There are probably any number of reasons for this. But those reasons aren’t important. What’s important is results.

What kind of results do you think people get when they treat IM like a hobby? That’s right, they get the results of a hobby: They spend time and MONEY. There’s nothing wrong with spending your time and money on a hobby, but that’s no way to run a business.

Running an online business requires seriousness, dedication, and a business plan, just like any other venture. Which leads us to:

Not having a workable system. There are many, many different methods used to make money online. And those methods very much work, if you work the methods. But you have to have a method first!

Your system could be as simple as writing quality blog posts and throwing AdSense on your blog. Or you could pay for the secrets to a more profitable system by buying an e-book and/or membership to a monthly Internet marketing website.

But whatever you do, you really must have a system behind it. For one thing, the "one foot in front of the other," step-by-step approach really does work. Systems are also full of clearly-defined tasks. Not only does this make them easy to implement, it also makes it easy for you to find exactly what didn’t work when something goes wrong--and then fix it.
