One of the great things about affiliate marketing is that it’s a very low-cost, easy way to make money online. In fact, it’s easier today than it ever has been!
At one point, if you wanted to start up an Internet business, you had to buy domain names an a hosting plan. And if your business really takes off, you’ll probably want to do that eventually. But you don’t have to right now.
But what’s even more fortunate for the Internet marketing newbie today is the fact that you don’t have have to spend hours and hours learning HTML code or buy expensive software in order to create a Web page.
Squidoo.com is one site where you can make a Web page to drive traffic to your site. It is well-liked and well-trusted by Google’s search engines. This should come as no surprise. The site was formed by marketing genius Seth Goodin, and is very well suited to making money online.
It has a dashboard that is easy to use. It is also very powerful. With the click of a button, you can add instant content in the form of news and blog RSS feeds to your Squidoo page (also known as a "lens").
You can also add photos, video--pretty much anything you want. However, if you want your lens to really take off, it’s best to put some unique content on there. You can write the content yourself, or you can pay somebody else to write it.
You can also use blogging sites to create a good Web page to drive traffic through your affiliate link. You can create a single page and leave it at that, or you can create several pages that focus on different keywords.
WordPress.com is one of the two biggest blogging sites on the Internet. Its pages get into Google quickly, and often rank very well.
The only caveat with this site is that it’s not as marketer-friendly as it could be. It’s still usable, as long as you’re not as blatant with your advertising as you can be with a site like Squidoo.
Blogger.com is the other big blog site on the Web. It’s more marketer-friendly than WordPress.com is.
Another advantage of Blogger is that it’s owned by Google. Now, I would never want to accuse everyone’s favorite search engine of playing favorites with the sites it owns. But I WILL tell you that if you want the kind of traffic that generates affiliate sales, Blogger is definitely worth your time.
