How to Get Massive Myspace Traffic - Part 4

So here we are. You can see now we’re starting to get more unique and more personalized. My profile picture is now up. We’ve got this slide show that’s now working. Ok, there’s only three pictures in it but we could’ve added a lot more.

We’ve added a bit of a description. We’ve added a list-building tool, because we’ve already got an autoresponder from www.GetResponseFast.com, and we’ve added some interest.

So you can see already we’re really starting to build a personalized page here.

There’s lots more you can do on here. I haven’t got time to go through every single one of these. What I’m doing is trying to give you a very quick and dirty get-started guide to My Space, so you can get up, get on there, get a personalized profile, set up something that’s unique all about you, and is going to start getting you traffic.

You want to be taking a look at some of these things as well, videos if you can, have a look at your blog, but really I’m just giving you the main things to get started.

We’ll then move on to how you get friends and actually build your network in later videos.

The final thing I want to show you on this is how to actually pick your My Space name and your URL. Remember we’ve got this clunky thing, this massive long number, which is rubbish. You do not want to use that. It’s messy looking. No one’s going to remember it and you won’t even remember it.

So what you need to do is go here, where it says, ‘Pick your My Space name and URL, click here’ so let’s go in there. Now from this page, this is where you’re actually going to pick your URL, the actual description, what’s going to appear in the address bar for your My Space account.

Now this is important for a couple reasons. First it’s the address, as I’ve already said. This is what people are actually going to type in to find you. This is what you might use on your other sites to send people to your My Space account, and also when you actually go and add people, when you add friends or they contact you, they’re going to be looking at this. They’re going to see this in the address box. It’s very important, so think carefully about what you’re going to put in here.

You might want to have it with some relevance to the market you’re operating in or the products or whatever, but again be careful and try and balance it out. Don’t just sort of say ‘Best products ever’ or ‘The Ultimate Marketing E-book $99.’

Make it something about you but also possibly about your marketplace. ‘Mike, the Master Traffic Builder,’ or something like that. Something that’s personal but maybe also relate to your product or service. So let me just go ahead and put one in here.

Ok, you can see I’ve gone through and confirmed that. I’ve chosen ‘Mr. Traffic.’ So that’s my My Space name. I can now go and use that as the address for my My Space account.

The final step it’s got here, it says ‘Do you want to enter your real name? People can use this to try and find you.’ Unless you’ve got any aversion to that, put your real name in and submit. For this purpose, as I’ve said this is a test account so I’m just going to hit ‘skip.’

Ok, I’ve just done a refresh on my public My Space account, so this is what the public is currently seeing. As you can see, the My Space URL has now changed to MySpace.com/MrTraffic. That’s because I’ve changed the name.

There’s one final thing I want to show you on customization. Now you can go and do this to the nth degree, but I just want to show you this. It’s very very quick and very very cool. At the moment this looks like 99% of the My Space pages out there, so let’s just go and change it, let’s just make it look totally different.

Now to do that you can go to a site called www.EverythingYourSpace.com. Now there’s hundreds of these sites. This is just one. I’ve got no affiliation with it. I just found it easy to use. So you can go on here and you can get some My Space layouts.

Let’s just try this one. This blue one looks cool. Click on here. So you click on the layout and what it’s going to do is it’s going to give you a code that you then use to actually add to your My Space page.

So you see here it says ‘layout code,’ ‘how to restore this layout,’ ‘copy and paste this layout code into the About Me section of your profile page.’ So we just click ‘select all’ and ‘copy.’

You then go into your My Space account and bring up the About Me section. You leave that stuff in there. Just click ‘paste.’ Now bear in mind it’s like this at the moment. Remember it’s like this. This has taken like what, 10 seconds? You’ve pasted that stuff in there. You don’t really need to know what it is or what it does. Click ‘save all changes’ and then we’ll go back and we’ll see what it’s like live.

So go in here. We’ll just do a ‘refresh,’ ‘reload,’ have a look, see what happens, now I’ve done that. Cool! So that is a very quick way to get a My Space page that looks unique.

Now I’m not saying you should use this one. I think it’s made these things look slightly odd, but you’ll need to experiment around. It looks different now to the vast majority of My Space pages out there, which is a good thing.

You’ll need to tinker around to find one that you really like best, but this is a great way to sort of customize your My Space page.

So that’s it. I’ve shown you how to customize your My Space page, start getting something that’s going to look unique and get people interested and get people reading it.

We’ll now move on to how you actually go out and find people, get friends, get traffic into your My Space, and then get people visiting your site, building your list, etc.
