How To Increase Membership Sales: 7 Ways To Gain More Members To Your Membership Site

Some Internet marketers find it quite challenging to increase membership sales. If you’re a starter, the prospect of maintaining a membership site may be overwhelming, leave alone boosting your membership sign up rates.

However, there are ways you can deal with this challenge without losing your cool. In your attempt to increase membership sales, you will discover that it is not as tough as you initially thought it would be, especially if you apply these proven tactics below:

1) High Conversion Rate

Before any type of promotion, make sure your membership site is converting a decent amount of its visitors to members. Try to get feedback about your site’s conversion rate from people you know and trust, particularly those who are familiar - or have plenty of experience - in your niche.

It is also highly recommended that you constantly test different aspects of your sales copy and track your results. Keep on improving by striving to beat the control, which is the winner from the last test conducted.

2) Enticing and Easy-To-Remember Name

Always make sure that your website or domain name is enticing and easy to remember. Who would remember something that they can’t even spell? Let people have an easy time remembering and searching for your site.

3) Different Membership Levels

Set up different membership levels so that your prospective members may choose what kind of membership they want to avail. Some people may hesitate to invest money outright, but you still have to capture them by offering a free membership, so you can follow up or promote other products to them

People sometimes want to have a taste of the benefits they will get if they join the higher levels, which is why some would prefer to join a free (or lower level) membership at first. They can see a description or introduction of what higher level members get, but they won’t have access to them unless they upgrade their memberships.

4) Video Marketing

This is the age when videos are experiencing a rapid and massive explosion. If you’re not using videos in your site and marketing, you’re leaving piles of money on the table.

Video marketing is a very effective strategy to increase your membership sales. Include videos on your membership site to educate and satisfy your members. Submit your videos to video-sharing sites (ex: youtube.com, metacafe.com, revver.com, google videos, yahoo videos, etc.) and get tons of exposure for your site. You could use a program like tubemogul.com to simultaneously submit your video to a variety of video-sharing sites, but make sure you read the terms and conditions of each site carefully.

Making videos is not as tough and costly as most people think it is. You don’t need to create professional videos, as long as you mix in some entertainment and/or beneficial information.

You don’t even have to appear in front of the video. You can use Camtasia to record whatever you’re doing with your computer; or if you need someone to talk in front of your targeted audience and you’re too shy to do it yourself, you can outsource the task for dirt cheap on freelance sites such as elance.com or rentacoder.com

With video marketing, you are building rapport and bringing in a sense of credibility; and by offering tremendous value to your prospects, you have a much higher chance of increasing your membership sales.

5) Blogging

Blogging is an excellent way to brand yourself and increase awareness of your site. And even if you can’t write well (or hate writing), you can pay someone else to do it for you. Blogs usually get high search engine rankings, so it’s an exceptional method to promote your site to prospective members.

Your blog must whet their appetite and talk about interesting aspects related to your membership site. Leave your readers hanging and hungry for more information, which they can only find by joining your membership site.

6) Referrals

You can increase your referrals by giving gifts to any member who can refer a certain number of people to join your site.

An even better way is to ask your members to become your affiliates, where they get a certain percentage of the earnings. You can set up a contest where the affiliate who refers the most visitors or members can get special discounts, products, or even more cash rewards.

It’s also a good idea to create a variety of promotional and pre-selling tools to help them promote your site. Having an affiliate program is an excellent and almost hands-free method to get the word out faster, as you can leverage from your members’ assets and have them do most of the work for you.

7) Excellent Customer Service

In order for people to remain satisfied and happy to stay as members of your site, you should regard customer service as one of your top priorities.

That means you need to cater to all their needs, whether they’re a free member or paid member. If you treat your customers like they’re VIPs, they will become raving fans of your service; in turn, these members will start spreading the word about their positive experience with your site.

There are other ways and methods that you can employ. It is just a matter of finding the appropriate ones, so that the methods will work for you effectively. You also need dedication and a well-organized system to make your membership site a success.
