Make the most out of your SPACE
If you look around and observe the many websites and blogs on the net nowadays there aren’t that many that don’t use advertisements of some kind. Using this resource in the right way can mean the difference between a healthy return and a mediocre one.
Positioning is vital; there are all kinds of advice on this subject and a good point of reference is to place your ad space sensibly and see it through your visitors’ eyes.
Optimisation Tips; Certain locations tend to be more successful than others, so experiment with different areas of your website or blog. All things being equal, ads located above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational links usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page. If your visitor is reading an article then at the end of the article they are always looking for some other link “What can I do next?" Precisely-targeted ads can answer that question for them.
For Bloggers
Blend ads into your blog; think about that for a moment! So that your readers will see and click on your ads, blend your ad units into the background of your blog. Choose a colour that stands out for the ad title, this will draw the eye to your ads; then make sure that the background and borders of your ads are the same colour as the background of the area where the ad is placed. Many blogging templates especially WordPress have customised ad blocks typically 125*125 in size which are very effective.
Show more options with search and referrals for affiliate programs
Make it easier for your visitor to find more options and to expand their reach with specialised search query boxes. You can place a custom coded iframe within your website that will greatly increase your visitors search experience; also there are advertisers that will provide some excellent search query applications.
Selling advertising spaces!
If you have a mailing list that exceeds 1,000 subscribers and beyond, you can start selling advertising space for say, $15.00 per ad. The more subscribers you have the higher your return, make sure you shop around, there are plenty of choices available.
If you reach the heady heights in traffic you can expect to get anywhere from between $500 to $1500 per month for each 125*125 ad space, so if you have a typical six block ad placement; well you do the math!
