How To Write A Press Release

Press releases are announcements of news-worthy events, and should be written in the third person. You may want to announce the launch of your new business, your website, your blog, or any event that may be related to your business. Use quotes in your press release, as if you were being interviewed. Keep press releases short and to the point (around 400 or 500 words). As I mention in most of my other content, do not over-hype yourself or your business or make outrageous claims. First, if you do so your press release will likely not get accepted anywhere you submit it, and second it will sound like spam like so much of the other stuff out there.

Rather than just trying to describe how to write a press release, I’ve decided it would be helpful to include an actual sample press release. Below (in italics) is a press release I wrote to announce my business.
