For those entrepreneurs that are new to press releases. This will be a step by step guide on how to create a press release and important tips for beginners.
The fist Step in writing a press release is choosing a topic. You will want to keep in mind that a press release is an announcement. Usually these announcements are a specific event, like "Jane Doe launches a New Blog, Learning the Ins and Outs of Remodeling Your House." Writing about an idea, opinion or topic, for example "Is Donald Trump a King of Real Estate?" is more suited for article marketing. Here you are giving your opinion and sharing information. In order to write great press releases you will have to understand the difference. The soon you understand the less time and energy you will waste in the long run. Almost all distribution sites will not let you submit any releases that are not formatted properly.
Here are some ideas for press releases:
• The launch of your new blog
• The launch of your new website
• The launch of your new team
• The launch of your new online business
The second step in writing a press release is picking keywords. This is a very important process because your press release can "rank" in the search engines for specific keywords, if those keywords are in your press release.
Here are some simple steps to aid in your keyword selection:
• Generate a list of 5-10 keywords that are related to your topic.
• Go to Google Adwords Keyword Tool and type in your keywords. When using your name, you will not need to type it in the keyword tool
• Choose the top three keywords that have the highest number of searches
• Choose one keyword from your list of three, to use in your release
Tip: If your keyword that you will use in your release is "make money online fast, when people go to Google and search that keyword. You stand a good chance that your press release could show in the search results.
The third step you must take in creating a press release is writing it. The easiest way to create your press release is to form an outline. Simple answer these five questions and you are on your way. They are in no specific order.
1. When did this event happen?
2. What specific event am I announcing?
3. Why would other people be interested in reading about this event?
4. Where can people find out more information?
5. Who did this event involve?
Then create some personal quotes to add to the release. It is usually most effective to use 2-3 personal quotes. The quotes should be a direct reflection on how you feel about the event.
Tip: When writing your press release make sure it reads like a news story. Also only use your keyword 3-4 times in the body of your release and once in the title. Never use your keyword more than 4 times in any release
The fourth step in creating a release is the review process. In order for you to get maximum traffic you will want o check the spelling, grammar and punctuation. Also it is very important that you add and check your URL at the end of your release.
Tip: It is very important that you double check everything. Once you submit your press release, you will no longer be able to edit.
The fifth and final step is to distribute it to the search engines. The easiest way to do this is to submit the press release to distribution sites.

• prlog.com
• prweb.com
• WebWire.com (Quickest Submission to engines)
• free-press-release.com
Here are some extra tips:
• Always use your personal business name when distributing releases.
• Your release will be most effective at 400 words or less.
• If your release is rejected, the distribution company will give you the reason why.
• If your release sounds purely like an advertisement, and not a newsworthy event, your press release will most likely be rejected.
• Each distribution site distributes your release to many other websites.
• Distribute the same release to a maximum of 5 distribution sites
Google favors press releases with video attached to them. If you ever have the opportunity to add a video into the distribution with your press release, make sure you do it. Some distribution sites will give you the opportunity to have your website displayed right beneath your press release, on the same page in what is called an "i-frame" or website within a web page. Always take advantage of this option. It will look very professional and also adds a lot of credibility to your release. Furthermore, prospects can opt-in directly to your landing page from your press release. That's it. It's a simple as that. Press releases are a great way to generate traffic for those on a budget. All you have to do is take action. Here's to your success.
