The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

This article is going to save you a lot of frustration in internet marketing. What you should focus your attention on. What are the good, the bad, and the ugly out there.

Let’s start in reverse.

The Ugly:

FFA’s
These are Free For All farms. Webmasters place their link on free for all sites. Mostly these are short term and results are not favorable for many reasons beyond that. These FFA’s are mostly all webmasters placing their links. Not consumers! Besides that there is the link relevancy which is highly frowned upon by Google.

Reciprocal Link Exchanges
Now some of these can be good but those that are totally unrelated to your niche are of low regard. Having too many listed is also highly discouraged. Both will have a negative impact on your rankings.

Blogs With Unrelated Comments
If you are going to make comments to a blog keep on topic. Have your comment of value. Not doing so will result in a deletion of your comment and a lower ranking of your blog ranking. Keep in mind that on many blogs this ranking (standing) can be very important!

The Bad

Traffic Exchanges
These are just a plain waste of time. How they work is that you receive credits for looking at other’s sites and they in turn view your site. It is just a circle. There are no actual visitors. Pointless!

Free Banner Exchanges
These banners are found on sites that get very little exposure and thus your rate of exposure is very limited. Taking the time and energy to do this is just that, taking your time and energy.

Safe Lists
This is a group of people who all agree upon sending and receiving each others emails. In their emails they make their promotions. The problem here is who is buying? They are all selling.

The Good

One Way Links
One way links that are on topic with a few good reputable companies are good. Great exposure!

Paid Banner Ads
These ads are placed on sites that people frequent. If you are purchasing weigh your options, pricing, and placement.

Blogging
Blog and write good articles. Write about what is of interest to people. What you are about and your topic of expertise. Write a word count of 300 to 500 words. Keep on topic.

Article Writing
Write articles and submit them to directories. Use the same principles as blogging. Be professional. Include links.
