The Secret To Success!

This article is not what most Internet marketers tell you, but if they where honest they would.  It ALL took them a LOT of work to get to where they are today, but it doen’t mean you don’t do what you love!

In his book Outliers, author Malcom Gladwell tells stories about extremely successful people.  These are some of the most interesting findings:

1.  The 10,000 hour Rule: Extremely successful people not only have talent, but they also work harder than anyone else (at least for a while). He uses Bill Gates (who spent many, many hours programming computers long before most people had regular access to computers) and the Beatles (who played for as many as 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, in Hamburg when other musicians were only playing an hour or two). Researchers have fond that “ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world-class expert – in anything…it takes the brain this long to assimilate all that it needs to know to achieve true mastery.” How hard are you willing to work to achieve mastery in your life?

2.  Practical Intelligence: While IQ is an important factor in success it is not enough. Once a certain IQ is reached, it’s practical intelligence that makes the difference for those who become extremely successful. Knowledge that helps you read a situation correctly and get what you want. This social savvy is set of skills that have to be learned. He shares story after story about how people succeeded in part because of the support they received from others. According to Gladwell, no one, not rock stars, not professional athletes, not software billionaires, ever make it alone. By creating effective relationships and being able to advocate for your desires, others will help you reach your dreams. What relationships, current or future, do you need to cultivate, in order to reach your dreams?

People who persevere through the plateaus are the ones that achieve true mastery. “Practice primarily for the sake of the practice itself.” Dabblers lose interest when they hit a plateau and move to new challenges. A hacker does only enough to get by. A master is dedicated to outstanding results.
