If you jumped on the webmaster bandwagon because you thought it would be a quick and easy way to get rich, by now, you've probably realized that you were mistaken.

In addition to the learning curve needed simply to set up your website, now you get to enter the fun world of website promotion. You need to consistently market you to the internet, in order to build a profitable website.

Here are the top 5 ways you can maintain your website. Try doing these tasks on a weekly basis.

1)Write New Content
The absolute most important thing you can do to maintain your website is to write new content on a regular basis. Remember, online, content is king.

Its not "location-location-location" online, its "information-information-information".

Writing new content will attract visitors, both the search engine spiders, and, more importantly, the human visitors who will return to your site week after week to see what's new.

Be sure and update a few pages weekly. Also, try to add just one new content page to your website each week.

2)Write New Articles
If you haven't gotten into Article Marketing yet, what are you waiting for? Article Marketing is an excellent way to gain new backlinks to your site and to attract visitors in your specific niche.

It is also one of the quickest ways to get a new page indexed.

Once a week, write an article pertaining to a topic on your website and submit it to article directories. It's also a good idea to write an article specifically about the topic of your newest content page and submit that too. Get into this habit and watch your traffic climb.

3)Write New Classified Ads
Taking advantage of classified ads sites can be an inexpensive and quick way to get your name and site out there. You don't have to sell an item to be placed in a classified ad, you can simply let viewers know your site contains information that may be of interest to them.

Take 10 minutes a week to create 5 or so ads and submit them to your favorite classified sites.

4)Create New Backlinks
The quest for quality backlinks should be an ongoing goal of yours. In between writing quality content, put your mind at ease and take a break to chat on message boards and forums, Yahoo Answers, related blogs, and social networking groups.
