Bedat & Co

Bedat & Co. is a young company with a rich and interesting history. They were established in 1996 by mother and son team, Christian and Simone Bedat. The two wanted to create a luxury brand that was both contemporary in design and unique in function. In true entrepreneurial spirit, this is exactly what they did. The watch company was so popular that only four years after its launch, it was bought by the Gucci group.

Bedat & Co. combine both luxury and function in their watch styles, giving you the best of both worlds in a watch that will stop heads from across a room. All Bedat & Co. watches are manufactured in their workshop in Switzerland and are sold with a Certificate of Swiss Origin so you know you are getting the true thing.

Some Bedat & Co. collections include:

*    Bedat No 1
*    Bedat No 3
*    Bedat No 7
*    Bedat No 8

The first collection, aptly named Bedat No 1 features square faced dials that have compressed vertical sides. Collection No 3 also has a square dal but without the compressed vertical sides. Instead it has expanded vertical styles. No 7 has straight, sleek sides and No 8 has round and oval dials. You can clearly see there is something for everyone. All dials are done in either gold or steel and are decorated with a wide variety of faces and strap styles in various colors.

Why does Bedat & Co. use numbers instead of names for their watch collections? There is a logical reason for this as well. Some of the founding principles behind the watch brand are differentiation, timelessness, elegance and sophistication. The numbers were carefully chosen to help implement these principles. The number-names of each collection were specifically chosen to correspond to a particular philosophy or aesthetic appearance of the watches in that collection.

The Bedats felt that in the watchmaking world, names are rarely consistent with the actual timepiece or the brand. They are often just created because they sound nice or popular at the time. This is why Bedat & Co. use numbers instead. The numbers are also easy to recognize, easy to remember and easily translated in other countries and languages, making the brand more universal.

The numbers used in the naming of the collections do not follow on from each other and they do not follow a chronological order. Bedat & Co. consider numbers to be timeless and this is carried out in their watch collections as well.

On their official website you can learn more about the company, the founders and the watches themselves, including how to care for them and use them properly. Who better to give you this information than the people who actually created and made the watches?

In keeping with the tradition and spirit of the founders, Bedat & Co. continues to create styles today that are both luxurious and functional. The average pricing of a Bedat & Co. watch is $1,300-$7,800.
