Generally speaking, wearing a diamond necklace is a sign of wealth as they are generally a very expensive item of jewellery. However, many people do in fact wear the diamond part of the necklace under clothing garments and therefore the significance of wearing them diminishes.
This was far from the case when Nicole Kidman turned up to the Oscars this year wearing what appeared to be the worlds biggest diamond necklace. Fortunately for her, the necklace was much nicer than her dress which was rather dull in all honesty. These types of events always seem to bring out all the expensive jewellery and this was no different at the 2006 Academy Awards when Jennifer Lopez brought out a Fred Leighton diamond necklace worth around $25,000.

So whatever the price of a diamond necklace, they are still bought up right across the world. Many people do buy them as a sign of wealth to air their superiority and/or significance. They want to show all the on-lookers that they are the most important person in the room. However, diamond necklaces are also worn to make the person wearing them look nice too. The diamond necklace is a very powerful garment and is possibly one of the first things people notice on a person, especially in the case of Nicole Kidman whose diamond necklace was enormous.
A spent force? Not in you’re lifetime. Not in mine. Diamond necklaces will continue to be a popular item of jewellery for many years to come.
