Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima

In the morning of August 6, 1945, the heart city of Japan, Hiroshima was engaged in usual early morning activities. The land of rising sun was not aware that it’s going to be the world’s biggest disaster. The B-29 bomber named “Enola Gay” piloted by Colonel Paul Tibbets took off from the island of Japan Tinian. Colonel Paul Tibbets was the general of the 509th composite Group and he named the B-29 bomber after his mothers name Enola Gay. He dropped the “Little Boy”, the 9,700 Pound Uranium Bomb at 8.15 on Hiroshima. The world history recorded the first atomic bomb at Warfield. Forty three seconds after the bomb dropped, the city was hidden by the devastating Mushroom Cloud as long as 1900 feet above the city. The Heat and Radiation Generated by the bomb put an end to thousands of lives within a minute. Within ten minutes people around half a mile or less from ground zero found themselves dead. Nearly every building within one mile of ground zero was destroyed and almost all the buildings within three miles got severe damage.

The explosion was later estimated that it’s equivalent to 13000 tons of TNT. The aftermath of this explosion caused severe deaths and made millions of peoples to live with extreme pain. At the end of 1945 almost 140,000 peoples lost their lives due to this catastrophic bomb blast. Some estimates states that due to cancer and other long-term effects more than 200,000 people had died by 1950. Roughly 9% among bomb survivors death was due to cancer and leukemia caused by the radiation from the bombs. Still people of Hiroshima feel the pain and remember the sufferings they had when the little boy was dropped.
