SUCCESS ROOTS IN THE CLASSROOM ONLY
Though it was a Friday, I personally became very happy to have the last class teacher period of interaction with my children in IX A for the session 2008-09. I just gave a look to everyone & spontaneously my mouth addressed to the children, ‘children, this is the last interaction with your class teacher’. With this sentence the whole class became silent. Then, many childish approaches started to come like, ‘sir, you will again be the class teacher of our class’. I denied. I replied, ‘may not be’. That’s the time when all were ready to listen the last few words of their class teacher. Emotion spread in the whole class just like the feelings of defeated soldiers.
Children started approaching me to utilize that zero period as something different/something special. Prateek started speaking about what he learned from every friend. Then, started the sharing session. One by one, the whole class shared their feelings. They shared their achievements, unity & friendship in class IX A. That was excellent!! I was feeling, as if all are the gems of Chinmaya Vidyalaya sitting in IX A.
Values like Leadership, unity, confidence, love, courage etc are cultivated in the classroom only. A classroom is not a dead room rather it’s a living platform. Classroom is the heart of the school, which experiences 7 to 8 period daily. Class room is a reflection, a motivation where pupils meet teachers, ask questions, give answers, do humour & many more. A classroom becomes young with the touch of both the young Class teacher & children. It’s display board, black board, cupboard- all become unique with the fragrance of the dynamic leadership of the class teacher.
Children of a class are just like soldiers to receive any order of the class teachers and to work out at once. Still, they also want to give ample of suggestions to make the class ‘the best’ in the school. God has given us every base to develop. We are the one who decide to develop or not. As our thought, so our development. A man is different from others because of his thoughts only. A class teacher has to trap the thoughts & innovative ideas of the children so that he can channelise the energy of the children in a systematic & scientific way.
Class election & class government teach the children how to unitedly run the class. Leadership is build when the work culture of the class is shared by the children in the management. Who told ‘class teacher is in burden’. That is only the thought of the dictatorial class teacher who does not allow children to participate in the management process. Children are having abundant energy to transform the stone into a gold one. A democratic classroom includes all the children in participating in the class day to day affairs.
In class teacher period when children give new thoughts to build the classroom a unique one, pupil learn unity & obligation to their class. The mere touch of motivation through praise or prize to any child increases his/her capacities. When the class teacher tries to search the qualities &capabilities within the children & highlight those in front of the children they feel themselves unique & energetic. Children, once they start feeling themselves unique, development becomes a flow. Class teacher is the second mother of the children. Children are trained in the class ‘how to speak’, ‘how to behave’ etc.
May be that is ‘class magazine’, may be ‘class display board’ or ‘black board’ everywhere achievement lies with the freedom of the children. Class teacher is only the observer after assigning the work to different children. Freedom has the beautiful quality to take a child to its perfection.
A creative class teacher can make his children more creative because creativity is the inherent part of the child. A mischievous child may have abundant power of creativity. May be the energy is flowing in the wrong direction so that the child is infamous. Class teacher must identify those parts of the behaviour of the child & at the same time he must think about the creativity & qualitative part of the child. Every child is good but the thing is that the energy within the child must go in the systematic & right direction that maketh the child a different personality. Class teacher has the duty to identify the same and encourage the child to grow towards his perfection. When class teacher feels himself a child among the children but found himself unique to influence the children, classroom becomes worthy to find itself in a unique place.
