8 Ways to Add Value to Your Home With Creative Landscaping

As homeowners we need to invest wisely into the place we call home to keep as much equity as we possibly can. Landscaping is one of the best ways you can add value to your house and enhance your atmosphere at the same time. Here are some great tips on how to spruce up your yard at an affordable price adding equity and charm to the biggest investment in your life, your home.

1. Incorporate a stairway from your existing concrete sidewalk with flagstone to the entry way of your house. You can plant thyme between the steps and add flowers on the edge for a spectacular finish. This is great for creating an inviting entry way.

2. Choosing a Xeriscape Landscape in your front or back yard that is a low water design can benefit you in two ways. This is a perfect option for people who are conserving water and want lower their water bills while adding value and beauty to their home.

3. Build rock gardens over your existing lawn and fill them in with annuals and perennials for a year round bloom.

4. Buy a small man-made waterfall at your local Home Improvement store and plant flowers around it for a place to relax and get-a-way. This is a simple and inexpensive way to add character to your home.

5. Build tree rings around your existing trees. This will help contain water and will give your yard a nice new look.

6. Ponds and pond less waterfall features are wonderful ways to add a focal point outside a window or in the corner of your front or back yard.

7. Koi ponds are wonderful for the whole family and will provide hours of enjoyment. You will notice more wildlife when you add a water feature to your landscape.

8. Dealing with an unsightly hillside can be very overwhelming. Stairways and terracing can create a very functional way to add beauty and planting areas on your ugly hill. Safety is an issue and this could prevent any possible accidents from trying to climb on an unstable hillside to weed.

Try to stay away from investing into your home the things which decrease drastically in value right away. Although pools are a very enjoyable luxury to have, they can be very pricey to maintain. Most like buying a brand new car off the lot, the minute you drive away it will drop in value, a pool will significantly decrease in value the minute you fill it up with water; while your landscaping will only increase in value over time.
