Country Cottage Picket Fencing

Posted: Nov 03, 2009 | Comments: 0 | Views: 57 | Bookmark and Share

The Picket fence is a variety of fence used most commonly for domestic boundaries and has long been known as an American icon that represents "peaceful middle class urban-living". It is usually made out of wood and painted in white although modern versions sometimes use a white plastic that resemble wood.

In the UK a common application for picket fencing is for a country cottage, as an attractive alternative to other more heavy duty options. When one thinks about country style houses, one of the first things that comes to mind are aesthetically pleasing small cottages with white picket fences surrounded by beautifully crafted vine plants such as roses and ivy.

The reason why many people prefer the decorative look that picket fencing gives to country cottages over other heavy duty and multi-purpose fences is the fact that it has a welcoming, cozy, inviting and homely appeal.

It is a perfect choice for homemakers that like the idea of having just the right amount of privacy, yet not totally blocking off neighbours, allowing for conversations over the fence.

Picket fencing complements the relaxed look and feel of country cottages and it’s not too tall to completely overshadow the beauty of country cottages.

Picket fencing has come a long way and is here to stay. It will continue to give houses, whether country cottages, villas, or modern homes the right amount of the soft touch that’s a great indication of quiet peaceful living. Fencing is no longer used just to set boundaries but is part of people’s perception of their dream house.
