Jerome Sturgeleski is an avid outdoors person and loves to stay out in his yard after dark. He lives in Minnesota so time outdoors is limited to just a few months of the year. After completing a landscaping project he thought the must be a way to light it up so he could enjoy in on those evenings out. He added some solar lights and liked it so well that he decided to start a website and sell solar lights so others could also add them and enjoy their outdoor spaces well into the evening. He started a website in May of 2005 called http://www.solarlightspro.com to allow people to see what types that are available.
There are many ways to reduce the amount of mosquitoes in your area. You can remove any standing water or areas which might harbor breeding grounds for them, Unfortunately in some areas you can do little to do this, as vast lowlands and trees are not something you can readily change.
There are many types of repellents available on the market. Some are messy and may stain clothing and all invariably wear off. Some may have a pleasant smell but they have minimal effect on avoiding the pesky critters. Even if they don’t light on you, they still are buzzing around.
Another way to avoid mosquitoes may be with bug zappers. They work if the mosquitoes fly around them. They do work but they may be noisy and they need to be near a power source. The control is limited to the area it is setup due to it usually needing a power source.
Citronella and other types of candles work to a degree but only service a small area so you may need many of them to cover a large area. The aroma or smoke they produce may be offensive to some people.
A new innovation is the mosquito inhibitor. These are relatively inexpensive and work much the same as candles but cover a larger area. The unit houses a fan and gently disburses an apricot smell to a 100 square foot radius that inhibits mosquitoes. It uses a patented chemical call linalool and is twice as effective as citronella candles or repellents containing Deet.
The fan is powered by rechargeable batteries that are charged by a small solar cell. This makes this especially versatile because you do not have to plug it anywhere. You have the freedom to place it anywhere you want to be. If you want to be by the pool, move it there; if you want to be near your distant flower garden, move it there. Being it is also a solar light, it gives off a soft amber light. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors without having to use any of the conventional repellents.
