Landscaping a garden is one way of adding a specific design to your home. It is an easy and sensible way of making the outside of your home look beautiful. However, problems may arise in maintaining a landscaped garden.
The following are useful tips that will help to maintain a landscaped garden and provide solutions to problem areas:
1. If the problem is too much sunlight, which causes drought, a solution is to use plants that are low maintenance and can be planted even in direct sunlight. The plants will survive even when there is little water or too much sunlight.
2. Sometimes the garden becomes too shady which causes difficulty in growing certain plants. The solution for this is to choose plants that prefer less sun and benefit from being planted in shady areas.
3. If the garden is too rocky, the rocks may be used as part of the design to create a beautiful rock garden. Putting the rocks together to create a slope will add a natural look in the garden. The slope that is formed with the rocks will keep the garden from looking flat and unattractive.
4. Plant shade trees at the corners of the garden if the place has too much sunlight. This will keep sensitive plants away from direct sunlight and will help keep the soil moist. Water regularly if needed.
5. Weeds or unwanted plants growing in the garden should be pulled. You must pull the weed and its roots to prevent the weed from growing back. Trimming and cutting the weeds will only give temporary results. Pull everything out to prevent the return of the problem.
These are just some common solutions to some problems encountered in maintaining a landscaped garden. To keep the maintenance easy, it is recommended that you tend the garden regularly. This will prevent small problems from getting bigger and more difficult to handle. If the landscaped garden is well maintained, the plants and trees will thrive and live a long life and will save money as you will not have to buy new plants.
Here are some different landscape styles you can choose for your own garden:
The formal landscaping style uses lots of straight lines and well placed geometrical shapes. An orderly placement of plants is used instead of random positioning. Close arrangement and pruning is seen on many landscaped gardens with this style.
An informal kind of landscaping works well with smaller homes and rural, cozy cottages. Beds with curved edges instead of straight lines and random placement of plants suit this landscape style.
An English garden style emphasizes the harmony between the house's architecture and the garden.
A formal/informal garden style often comes with a brick walkway that provides some formality. This walkway leads to the rear of the dwelling with a circle of plants. The arrangement of plants resembles the English garden style yet it has no formal borders.
An Oriental garden is often found in small backyards. It uses rocks, evergreens and water. A wide variety of plants create several interesting angles with this style.
The woodland landscaping style suits a house that has a wooded backyard and sloping ground.
With careful consideration and the choosing of an appropriate style, your landscaping will surely enhance your home and property.
