Would A Wall Fountain Work For You?

Garden walls and outside house walls can be very bland and plain even with the inevitable ivy growing over it. Walls such as these need something different to give them interest and make them stand out. A wall fountain can do just that.

Wall fountains make interesting and attractive additions to a garden, patio or landscape. Adding an ornate fixture, from which water cascades, to an exterior wall is a perfect way to create instant interest.

Water sounds are not only soothing, the white noise that is created also masks the sounds of nearby traffic making your space even more quiet and relaxing.

Water movement energizes the air around it turning the electron s in the air into negative ions. Negative ions are very beneficial to air quality. Strategically placed plants close to the water fountain will add to the overall effect of air cleansing.

Energized air and soothing sounds help in the relaxing process. The negative ions help you feel more vibrant and put you in a better mood.  This makes water fountains ideal backdrops for relaxation and meditation.

Imagine relaxing in a patio chair after a stressful day at work. The murmuring sound of the water as it tumbles down the stone face and into the basin below masks the outside noises.

As with standard floor mounted fountains, wall fountains create a soothing environment with the sounds of cascading water as it flows from an ornate outlet and tumbles into the basin below. The water in the basin is pumped to the top of the water fountain where it once more cascades down making a continuous flow.

Wall fountains do not need water to be plumbed in as the water is contained in its own reservoir. An electric pump is concealed in the basin which creates the perpetual flow. They do need a source of power to operate the pump. Power can be from an electrical outlet in the wall or from a solar panel. Many fountains come with solar power as an option.

Wall fountains are ideal for those with limited space because they have a very shallow depth from the wall, only about 12 inches. They do not encroach into the room or patio.  There are many types of outdoor wall fountains to choose from, it’s easy to find one to suit nearly any garden style or budget.

There are many different styles of water fountain available from classic lion’s heads spouting water into a bowl to modern designs. They also come in a multitude of materials. Some heavier fountains are carved from real or artificial stone while lighter ones may be made from plastic or fiberglass.

Many are made from copper or a combination of stone and copper.  Copper wall fountains may be sealed to retain copper color but are often left unsealed to allow the copper to take on the beautiful patina that copper is famous for.

Take a look around your home or garden for a wall that needs interest adding to it. Very often the patio area is the place of choice because this is where the most benefit is gained. A wall fountain can be installed in less than an hour creating an instant impact.
