Slim and lightweight are the magic words in laptops. Early this year, IT experts forecasted a new class of laptops on the block that could turn the heads of both home PC and business users--take a bow, the ultra-light CULV notebook. These state-of-the-art notebook PCs are streamlined and so slim, not beyond 2.5cm, have lasting battery life, with adequate eight hours exacted from a single charge, and generally have functional 13.3in displays.
These seamless units are backed by modified and powerful Consumer ultra low voltage or CULV Intel CPU and only cost approximately $1300. That's a nice surprise. Still in April, IT gurus and experts were foretelling a high range of price, between $1500 and $2000.
The CULV notebooks would give netbooks and their Atom-run processors a full run for their money. These nifty laptop computers have regular screen, an improved operation system, and, more often than not, fine good looks. Users are bragging to carry these trendy gadgets everyplace—from a boardroom or in a jam-packed cafe.
CULV models are sleek computing machines and it is a certified head-turner with most units having aluminum shell. Just 23.5mm at its thickest part, it tipped the scales at 1.8kg. The laptops channel-surf the World Wide Web with panache and speed. The video works great with a 16:9 widescreen LED backlit video display.
With its regular units include a Core 2 Duo SP9300 chip running at 2.26GHz. There is a good alternative which is low-voltage but low performance—the Celeron profecessor, which is obtainable from the ProBook 5310m, that is, if the projected 8-hour long-term battery life is crucial for the mobile user.
However, as it works for super sleek laptops, the DVD drive is none existent, which could be challenging if users require reloading Windows. For about $60, just a small share of an instant payday loan, users can purchase external drives which can be connected to the ready USB ports.
For about $1499, tech citizenry and even non-IT individuals can buy the ProBook5310m, although IT experts see this cost a bit steep. Whether in online stores or in mall shops, it is up against strong, less expensive ultrathin competitors, including Dell's 1.7kg Inspiron, at a price of little more than $1000, or Acer's Timeline 3810 with the same chip at $1299. If the current costs are more than the faxless payday loan applied for, but the user would still want more than the run-of-the-mill netbook, they could count to look over the middle-range options offered by HP.
