What Features Matter When Choosing A Laptop?

If you are out there shopping for the right laptop, you should probably be aware of what is going to matter to you. Unfortunately, these laptop manufacturers want to focus on the good things that their laptops have, but they will purposely neglect to tell you some things that may make their laptop look less appealing. So, below is my list for things that you should look at in every laptop.

The Battery

The battery is a commonly overlooked item that all laptops come with. However, they are probably one of the more important features of a laptop.  It is not that you will have to buy a new one if it breaks, but more that you know that you will likely be using your laptop away from a power outlet. There is nothing more frustrating than a bad battery. A bad battery or one that does not keep its charge for very long is extremely annoying when you are trying to travel with your laptop. Find one that takes pride in having a good battery.

The Size and Weight

Laptops are getting smaller each year. Nowadays you can find ones that can pretty well fit in your pocket. However, not all are this way. For some reason, some of the laptops that are still created are extremely heavy and bulky. I suppose they are built for the casual traveler. However, there is nothing more annoying than trying to carry a cinderblock through the airport. This is what it is like if you have a really large and heavy laptop.

The Processor and RAM

From a specifications standpoint, this is probably one of the more important aspects to a laptop. A bad processor and low amount of RAM in comparison to one with a large processor and plenty of RAM is like a night and day difference. If you are shopping for a laptop, I would encourage you to get one that not only meets your needs, but perhaps surpasses it a little bit. Sure, the internet is not exactly a hog by today’s standards, but you may want to have several applications open, and this means that you need a bigger processor and RAM. You should really take a heavy look at what size and how much RAM is going to work for you.

Internet Capability

Always make sure that your laptop has internet Wi-Fi capability. Unfortunately, some cheaper laptops are still made in a way that does not really have this feature without having to buy a card that goes in the side of the laptop separately. Why would you want one like this though? Even if you do not plan to use Wi-Fi much, there are a lot of cheaper laptops that do have the capability. I would simply toss the ones without the capability from my list of laptops I am considering buying. There is just no point in not having it these days.
