Slip, Trip and Fall Compensation Claims

Trip and slip accidents are one of the most common type of accident claims and are steadily on the increase. Accidents resulting from a trip or slip are often regarded as minor or insignificant and perhaps even attributed to clumsiness. In reality, trip or slip victims rarely attribute their prolonged injuries, pain and suffering to accidents.

Accidents can occur from:

Raised, uneven, missing and defective flagstones or pavements
Uncovered or raised potholes
Slippery floors indoors e.g. supermarkets, shops, etc
Inadequate flooring
Ill-fitting carpets in shops or other properties

Examples of injuries sustained can include:

Cuts & bruises
Sprains
Broken limbs
Back pain
Head injuries
Headaches

All owners of public places and local authorities are under a legal duty to ensure that their premises and highways are adequately maintained and are safe for use by members of the public. If they have not fulfilled their duties, this may result in action being taken against them for a breach of duty or care.

The compensation obtained can vary depending upon the severity of the particular injury. In some cases, a person may have such severe or prolonged injuries that they may have to undergo physiotherapy, give up work or even suffer psychological injuries.

There are a number of state benefits available to victims and their carers. A specialist Solicitor can not only pursue slip trip and fall claims for sufferers on a true No Win, No Fee* basis, but also provide advice and assistance with applications in order to maximise benefit entitlement.
