Social Security Disability Claim Advocates

Are you a disabled citizen of Los Angeles? Perhaps you intend to collect your disability benefits from Social Security. With this in mind, have you considered hiring an attorney to help you with your claims? First, let us understand what makes it so important to get a Los Angeles disability claims attorney.

There are two types of Social Security Disability programs. These are the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The policies that govern these programs are so complex, which often ends in claimants’ applications, being rejected or denied. In fact, over 70% of applications are denied.

Whether pursuing for SSDI or SSI, processing the claims can take such a long period. Actually, it is just usual for an initial claim to go beyond the 90 to 120 days normally projected by the Social Security Administration (SSA). It could take as long as 6 to 8 months to complete the initial application alone. Of course, when it is denied, you will have to continue on to the appeals process.

You will need a Social Security attorney, not to speed up court decision, but to boost the odds of getting a favorable decision on your claim. Even at the preliminary claims and at the reconsideration levels, having a legal representative can increase your chances of being approved of your claims.

If you hired an attorney after being denied, whether of an application or an appeal, it is necessary that you give him/her detailed information of what transpired on your previous claims in order for him/her to develop a better strategy.

Additionally, keep your Los Angeles attorney fully informed if there are changes to your medical condition. If your doctor gives you a fresh diagnosis, or informs you of a worsening condition, let your attorney know this. This information will help in improving your claim’s status.

Typically, a Los Angeles disability claims attorney will arrange for a disability hearing through examination of the claimant's social security case and collection of all medical records, including additional medical updates. A representative may prepare by having a claimant’s complete social security file copied so he/she may review all paper works relevant to the claim.

A Social Security expert will assist in preparation and submission of additional proofs such as medical reports and witnesses’ statements as well. He/she will also prepare you to testify effectively. During the hearing, he shall cross-examine adverse medical and non-medical witnesses called upon by the Social Security Administration. Your legal representative will also ensure that deadlines are not missed.

It is important to employ an attorney who can help you understand the legal issues and the proceedings of the case. It is also imperative that your lawyer can be contacted easily in case of complications that arise with your claim. He/she should keep you updated on developments as well. For communication purposes, inform your representative regarding changes to your contact numbers or home address.

Finding an attorney who will handle your social security disability claims could be fairly simple. Further, getting one will work to your advantage. It will certainly make your claims process or appeal process easier and improve your chances of winning your benefits.

I filed a ssdi claim last month, I know it is just going through the motions just waiting to get denied and then have to seek legal representation for $5,300 even on a legit claim. I know that 85% or claims are denied, and even a large number on the first apeal. The feds can drag it out for three years and only have to give one years back pay. It is such a sad state of affairs during this process. I had to quite my orginal job of 26 years as a cedar lumber grader do to major respiratory problems and went the the state industrial insurance program for retraining as an office assistant that did not give me enough job skills for even an entry level clerical. Now I am filing for SSDI, there are many other physical and psycological problems that were not part of the state claim that are valid under a federal claim, such as, anxiety disorder, panic attacks, Irritable bowl syndrome, insomnia, and type 2 diabetes. I just spent four and a half hours in the emergency room taking a battery of tests, and I also have psycological asthma, specifically hyperventalation. I know I will need some legal help since I am not optimistic about winning the intial claim and it is pretty much a given that I will have to go through one appeal at least and most likely two, mean while I have to depend on my wife paying for insurance benifits out of her own pocket through her employer, paying the doctors copay, and prescription co pay. I don't know how many more years she can work due to the fact that she has a bad case of arthritus,
