Truck Accidents in Florida

The life of an over-the road-trucker is a difficult one. Truck drivers put in hard hours of monotonous driving over long distances. This not only wears on them, it wears on their vehicles, which age incredibly fast.  Driver fatigue, improperly maintained vehicles, and tight delivery schedules combine to make truck accidents an all too common occurrence.

When a truck accident does occur, it is not only the truck driver who is in danger, but everybody else on the road, too.  According to the NHTSA, the agency that monitors trucking accidents, the drivers, and passengers of the truck are not injured or killed as frequently as are passengers in other vehicles.  Approximately 78% of the 106,000 trucking accidents injuries reported occupied another vehicle.  Although truck accidents occur with less frequency than other auto accidents, they are often more dramatic and deadly because of the weight of the vehicles involved.

Most truck drivers are safe and take proper precautions when driving.  After all, their lives are on the line as well as yours.  However, many drivers are not adequately compensated, and they push themselves beyond their physical limits.  As a result, they indulge in behavior that leads to trucking accidents.  Some of the most common factors of trucking accidents include:

  • Driver fatigue
  • Improperly securing their load
  • Drug or alcohol use
  • Speeding
  • Aggressive driving

Truck driver turnover is high and many companies, trying to get their payloads moved across country, hire inadequately trained drivers.  These drivers are less knowledgeable about how to manage their trucks in traffic.  Some of new truck driver's problem areas include:

  • Blind spots
  • Oversized loads,
  • Poor turning decisions
  • Improperly loading their vehicles

All these factors will often lead to a potentially deadly accident.  An additional growing problem in the United States is a significant increase in less experienced foreign freighters driving older and more hazardous vehicles.  Fatalities from trucking accidents from these over-the-road truckers are on the rise.

Some truck drivers are independent and contract with various vendors to haul commercial goods all over the country.  Other drivers work for a particular company hauling their merchandise.  Either way, truckers are more highly regulated than other automobile users who are on the roads as commuters or travelers.  When a truck accident occurs, the companies whom the driver represents have a stake in ensuring that any monetary damages that are incurred are minimized.  Their insurance agents and lawyers work hard to reduce any damages that might be awarded a truck accident victim.

If you are ever involved in a trucking accident, it is imperative that you seek out an experienced truck accident attorney.

Your cornea bends light as it enters your eye. A properly shaped cornea focuses that light on the retina. If you are nearsighted your cornea is either too curved or your eye is too long, causing the light to focus in front of the retina. When the light reaches your retina it has started to spread out again and the image is blurry.
