Verrill Dana, LLP Names New Partners

PORTLAND, ME (January  23, 2008) -- Verrill Dana, LLP is pleased to announce that Kathleen Gleason Healy and Alexia Pappas have been named Partners in the firm.  Both practice in the firm's Portland office.

Ms. Healy is a member of the firm's Health Law Group, where she maintains a general health law practice with an emphasis on hospital law including HIPAA and patient confidentiality; health information technology; physician contracting; and health care compliance.  She also counsels medical practices on transactional and regulatory compliance matters. Prior to joining Verrill Dana, Ms. Healy was engaged in private practice in Sheridan, Wyoming.  She received both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Notre Dame.  Between college and law school, Ms. Healy taught English as a Second Language in the Peace Corps and also served as a project director and technical trainer for the Peace Corps. 

Ms. Pappas is a member of the firm's Litigation Group.  A former federal prosecutor, she advises corporate and individual clients in criminal matters and also maintains a broad civil practice with an emphasis on employment-related litigation.  Ms. Pappas is an honors graduate of both Harvard College and Duke University School of Law; in addition to her J.D., she also earned an M.A. in Public Policy at Duke.  Between college and law school, she served on the staff of United States Senator George Mitchell; following law school, she served as law clerk to the Honorable D. Brock Hornby, United States District Court, District of Maine.

PORTLAND, ME (March 11, 2008) – Sarah B. Coburn has joined Verrill Dana as an Associate in the Private Clients Group.  She will work in the firm’s Portland office.

Prior to joining Verrill Dana, Coburn was an Associate with another Portland law firm where her practice focused on estate planning, probate and trust administration.

Coburn received an A.B. with honors from Brown University and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.  In addition, Coburn has completed coursework in Taxation of Trusts & Fiduciaries and Estate & Gift Tax at BU’s School of Law LLM Program.
