"T. A." was a Felonious person who always meant to hurt everybody working with him. It was possible for "T. A." to remain unaware of this fact if he was working for any of the small business offices or small companies, but he was a team leader.
Once on a quite Friday on Oct 2007; there was a general problem occurred with the most off the Blackberry devices used by the help desk team of our great service provider ETISALAT which was at that time consists only of 9 agents supporting whole UAE region residents & roamers. And after attending several inbound calls we from different customers it was realized that it must be a general problem occurred with some of the Blackberry 2.75 network reception devices.
While "T. A." was busy trying to repair some of the staff devices; calls was proportionally increasing with the customers logging the same complains. And although the fear was controlling our feelings and was pushing us to keep quite avoiding his harsh and aggressive reaction we preferred staying away and the reason inside each and every one of us is to keep his image and to save his feelings and live in peace coming daily to the only job he has on hand for the time being although we where expecting a bigger disaster. And the result was loosing 2 of our devices and the resignation of 4 of our 9 co-workers due to the unacceptable reaction & attitude.
This story became one of the most popular and famous stories in the ETISLAT contact centre – ESHOP Division. It was like a warning for every new joiner or agent that teaches them to avoid making a mistake that he/she can avoid to let it happen specially if the team was talented enough and had the ability of blending on working together.
The E-SHOP-Blackberry division was a small form of any organization or a company. But we all new that the lose of understanding was the reason behind the team broke up. The revert of the incorporeal soul and the workers feeling getting insulted and hurt by bumptious and smug team leader or bosses – or any of tens of the reasons that leads to emotional shortage inside the work place – that may not come to the mind of any body who is far away from our work place.
These things may be the reason for decreasing the production, increasingly getting infidelity from employees towards their company, staff making mistakes, shortages on everything and getting employees walking out and leaving the company. And there is – definitely – cost for loosing least factors of emotional intelligence in the work place. And we should confess and admit that the spread of the short emotional intelligence in a work place may lead to a breakdown and total loss of companies.
We are all asked to try and work hard to know deeply about our feelings and others too. We should find the changes that makes us feel the real satisfaction, fulfilment and pleasure on our work places with the respect of ourselves, feelings and others too.
