The text that you see the hyperlink on is called the "Anchor Text". It tells the viewer about the site they'll find if they click the link. Well planned anchor text includes keywords that provide search engines and people with a good idea of what they will find when they click the link.
An Anchor Text is not putting a hyperlink around text saying "Click Here". To look at an example of a positive anchor text would be something like the phrase "for more information about Texas web designs, click here", where the hyperlink begins at "Texas" and is ending after "designs".
Planned use of keywords leads to the chance that your targeted page will be ranked in a higher position by search engines. Anchor text is liked by search engines because it allows them to judge what the content of the target page is.
Warning: Make sure that you employ keywords that are relevant. The search engines cannot be tricked by you for long. They know all about tricky keyword manipulation.
You should change the anchor text here and there on different websites. Refrain from placing a large number of links on other sites with the exact same keywords. Use specific keyword phrases (called "long-tail" keywords) A long-tail keyword is a more detailed phrase. For example, a short-tail keyword could be "auto repair", while the long-tail version would be something like "Texas foreign auto repair" or maybe "Houston Audi Repair Service". You will be amazed by the volume of profitable long-tail phrases viewers will look for. Although the short-tail phrases may get many thousands of searches, your best chances of being at the very top of the list for them is very low, unless you maintain a very old and established website containing tons of backlinks.
Do not place links to your site on sites that are built to manipulate the results of Internet search engines. There may be a temporary page rank boost; however, once Google penalizes you, your page rank may permanently suffer.
