Obama Administration Supports Loan Modification Companies

The world economy is experiencing a mortgage crisis that’s unheard of in years. As foreclosure rates continue to soar, the Obama administration has released a quick mortgage fix by encouraging lenders and borrowers to consider loan modification. The plan to fix the mortgage glitch is not an entirely new scheme. This time, however, the plan includes a legislation cramming to force lenders to modify loans. State courts now have the power to declare and modify the terms and conditions of a home loan at the brink of foreclosure.

The government is clearly in support of these companies not only because they hasten the process of legally halting the blows of foreclosure on homeowners, but also because institutions have partnered with reputable law firms that are adept in handling such cases. In this case, lenders will be more yielding in granting such a mortgage process to borrowers and the government does not have to use its legislative powers to override their decisions.

Getting loan modification services and advice from established companies can exponentially raise a borrower’s chances of getting approved. Through the legal representation provided by these institutions, borrowers can get deals from their lenders, which would probably be hard to negotiate with if they try their luck at modifying loans on their own. Lawyers and legal advisers backing them up have the knowledge and expertise that could be utilized to persuade lenders in giving better and more feasible settlements to loan owners.

Another reason why the administration’s mortgage fix is rooting for this is because loan modification companies have a network of connections with the biggest banks and lending institutions in the country. They work around in the same mammoth of an industry with these corporations, so the procedures become easier and faster. Good track records of companies modifying loans of borrowers can also become a trump card that would affect the decisions of lenders in favor of the borrower.

A good settlement should ultimately end in home ownership preservation that should last for long through more affordable monthly rates that the borrower can afford. More often than not, those who try to modify loans on their own could only get settlements that can stop foreclosure for a few months. This is because the deal they were able to personally settle with their lenders is not enough to sustain an affordable monthly payment rate. Without proper legal representations, borrowers are like swimming with sharks in the vast ocean in the sense that their homes can be bitten off by foreclosure any time soon.

Loan modification is not a matter that could just be done without much consideration of its effect on one’s credit situation. It might seem easier to accomplish now that the government is already exercising its legislative brute, but there will be no ultimate assurance that foreclosures could be kept at bay if modifying loans is not done without the help of legal professionals and experts.
