Fresno City College gives all individuals an opportunity to attain the skills and expertise they need to pursue or further their career goals. They also are dedicated to ensuring that any individual wishing to pursue a higher level of education will be able to enter programs that are specifically designed to allow them to transfer their credits to a four year institution.

The College is located in Central California which serves a very diverse population. Students are provided with all of the necessary support to make sure that they can achieve both academically and socially in the college environment. Many students receive tutoring and interpretative services for their courses so that they are not required to take remedial courses which will not provide transfer credits.

Many of the degree and certificate programs available through the College are a result of the evolution of education delivery that began in 1910. The college is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in California and serves a mixed and diverse population. Students who may not be sure of what they want to major in are tested. These tests match a student to the field that will be most appealing to them based upon their interests and personality.

Fresno City College works closely with the community and encourages students to participate in helping to meet the needs of the community. Students are provided credits for many of the services that they provide to community organizations. In addition the College provides disaster relief throughout the United States. Many of the students participate in the organization that provides this relief.

Many of the programs at Fresno City College are at the top of their field. The fire and police academies as well the ROTC program are number one in the state. Other programs, such as those in technology, business, and health are designed to provide the education needed to prepare students for careers that benefit society. Both degree and non-degree programs are available ensuring that students receive the education needed to enter the workforce prepared and at the top of their field.

The College works very closely with the student body to assure that each student is an active participant in their education. Students are provided assistance in all areas of their life to create the optimum opportunity for academic success. In many cases tutors are assigned to students upon enrollment as well as interpreters who assist students in meeting the requirements of classwork.
