Every company has good and bad employees, but as much as possible, companies go for competent workers. Company managers are constantly coming up with stricter hiring policies in order to get only the best. Somewhere along the way, however, mistakes are still bound to be made. Since hiring, and training, a replacement can cost a lot, a number of companies have instead opted to maximize what their current manpower can do. And they are doing this thru motivation.
There are a lot of employee motivation programs that can company can use in order to have its employees contribute to the company’s efficiency and growth. Here are some ways or techniques to motivate your employees:
. Treat people fairly and with respect – When employees feel that they are not managed fairly they lose respect for the management. Employees sometimes experience unfair treatment and lose motivation for work. They believe that all employees should be treated equally regardless of their position, sex, race, religion or disability, and they are quite right in this thinking. Management should treat employees as adults, and should promote flexibility rather than harsh rules, where applicable.
. Try to get to know your employees better by getting some insight into their lives. Take some time to talk to them perhaps by joining them for lunch, asking open-ended questions, and listening carefully to what they have to say. Know what motivates each employee to do excellent work and you can gain from this knowledge. Participating in an employee motivation program can really help you with these concerns.
. Implement a system of rewarding good performance. Make it a point to give due recognition and reward when employees do work worthy of appreciation. You can come up with you own rewards program where there will be certain incentives for specific targets achieved. A system that will give credit to employee accomplishment is one solution to the problem of how to motivate employees.
. Have clearly defined smart goals. If employees don't understand your objectives, they won't be motivated to improve their performance. Set objectives that are practical and attainable. As long as the employees see the light at the end of tunnel they will keep working with enthusiasm. By just implementing employee motivation program, you can boost the morale of your employees.
