The business model in the past was production-driven, geared to marketing and producing for the masses. Today, the model leans towards integrating mass customization and one-to-one marketing; ERP can be made to do  exactly that, by harnessing existing information, perceived customer values and even market-oriented strategies, in a single virtual network. Interesting developments in this area and the need for professionals and researchers to keep abreast of these developments are good reasons why operations management articles should be read on a regular basis.
