Overview Of Seminole Community College

Seminole Community College is located in Florida. It is a "learning-centered" college that has been designed to meet the unique needs of both the community and students that it serves. This college provides students wishing to enroll many options to meet their goals. Students wishing to enter the workforce are provided with programs specifically designed for their area of interest. Individuals wishing to transfer to a four year institution are provided with guidance material and programs which have been developed in collaboration with local universities.

The college provides certification and degree programs in several fields of study. Many of the programs designed for entry into the workforce have been created in collaboration with local and national businesses. The coursework in these programs is specific to the needs of the field within the business environment that a student wishes to enter.

Appreciation for culture is valued at Seminole Community College as is seen in their year-round activities. Students are encouraged to participate actively or passively in many community and campus programs that reflect the heritage and history of Florida.

Students are provided many options when they wish to enroll in the College. Tuition is kept to a minimum so that students have an opportunity to attend college regardless of their economic status. In addition several scholarships are provided both by the school and the community to ensure that students can attain their degree and transfer to a four year university.

Seminole Community College offers not only intercollegiate athletics, but over 40 social, religious, service, and interest clubs and organization, as well. The student activities program is specifically designed to provide a learning-centered environment which enhances classroom instruction. This program also provides students with an overall learning experience that is unrivaled.

Each year the community and local businesses participate in a review of the curricula of the college. This allows business an opportunity to request programs that will meet their specific needs. The coursework that is designed meets both the needs of business but also meets the requirements for credit that will, in most cases, apply toward transfer to the university.

Seminole Community College is one of the fastest growing two-year institutions in the U. S. Two year degree programs, certificates in specialized fields of training, training in the workplace, continuing education for those that need refresher courses, adult education, and programs for youth, community, and leisure have all guided program development from the beginning.

Individuals who will be transferring to a four year institution find that Seminole Community College has programs which provide for a seamless transition. No credits are lost in the transfer process. The College has accomplished this through the efforts of a collaboration with the university. In addition, there are many preparatory programs provided for students to insure their success at the university level.
