In postcard printing, color is definitely one of the most important factors to be considered. Whether your postcards are for personal use or for your business, using full colors will definitely make your postcards standout.

Printing companies gives you several options on how many colors you use on your postcards. But if you want high quality prints, I suggest that you avail of full colored prints.

Full colored postcards more effectively attract the attention of your audience. Colors add life to images and graphics in your copy making them pleasing and easy to remember.

This is especially good in business where that all important first impression can make or break you. Businesses need high quality postcards for its marketing and advertising strategies to succeed. They need to be interesting enough for a prospective client to grab your client’s attention and cling to memory.

Pointers on Colors and Postcards

Here are some pointers on how colors can be used, how to apply them in practical ways, and of course, help you come up with a vibrant postcard design and print:

1. Color also adds to the company image making them easier to stick to the clients mind. People tend to think of and remember companies or brands associated with a particular color.

2. Here, color accuracy in printing is very important. You should have the color as close as possible to your original image or design. You can check this in proofs postcard printing companies provide you with.

3. Offset printing is your best bet on any occasion since it uses the science that “oil and water do not mix.” This means that water repels any ink from spreading or straying to non-printing areas. So your colors stay where it should be and is concentrated there – making your prints clear and clean.

4. If you want even the littlest text be read, then incorporate them into your color scheme. Do not let any detail blend into the background. Remember, it is always the littlest details that can make a difference.

5. When placing text over graphics, use lighter color for the graphics and darker colors for the text or vice versa. Varying the contrast between the image and the text will increase readability.

6. It is not wise to just pick a color out randomly. Certain colors go well with each other while others do not. Earth colors like gold, brown and yellow compliment each other just like red orange and yellow. Study the color wheel and you’d easily come up with a palette or warm hues, bright hues, cool tones, pastels and more.

7. Experiment. Let your imagination soar. Mix, match and think of as many ideas possible. Your ideas should only be limited by the number of colors in the color spectrum.

8. The number of colors on the spectrum, however, may not always encompass everything. If you want metallics or pearlized colors, know firsthand if your printing company accommodates this job for postcards and the price range it falls under.

9. If you have a brand logo with a trademarked color, you may want to tell your printer the particular color your use. The Pantone Matching System can easily transfer your logo unto your postcards in the exact color.

10. Some colors can set the tone or mood of your message. There are combinations that would easily denote that your postcards render professional services and are for corporate audience.
Then there are those for commercial or retail with loud reds for sales promotions, bargains and more.

Colors are fun, enjoyable and useful as well. You should take every opportunity you have to take advantage of what color can give to your prints and what full color printing can bring to your postcard printing projects.
