Choosing the Right Wedding Caterer

Wedding catering can make up one third of the wedding celebration. Wedding caterers are responsible for a majority of the reception preparations including table set-ups, flower arrangements, flatware and cutlery, reception venue decoration, and last but not the least, food preparation. Food preparation involves careful planning and food tasting. Below is a list of things to consider when choosing a wedding caterer:

Budget-It’s advisable to set a budget before hiring a wedding caterer. A budget gives couples a limit or rather a framework to what they can spend. A budget is actually an ideal way to organize and plan a wedding as every cost will be controlled. It’s recommended to set a budget that is a bit less than the actual budget to make room for any surprises or unforeseen expense later on, including crew meals, logistics expense or add-ons.

Menu-It’s best to consider what type of menu the caterer offers. Couples should inquire whether the caterer offers both buffet and sit down meals. Couples should inquire whether the caterer can arrange for customized meals based on budget, guests’ diets and food preferences. Large menu buffets are usually chosen for grand weddings while sit-down or single service plates give off a more formal impression.

Wine and Spirits-Couples should inquire whether the caterers charge for a corkage and pouring fee for the wine. What is the caterer’s policy regarding serving alcohol? Couples will have to decide how many drinks they are willing to pay per guest. When a bar is set up, an hourly fee for the bartender might be charged.

There are various promotional techniques utilized by wedding catering services. For a limited marketing budget, the use of simple print materials can be just as direct and effective. Examples of these printed materials include flyers, catalogs, brochures, sale cards, pocket folders. A novel and unique medium that serves as promotion and gift item is calendar prints. Calendar prints are easy and convenient to print using local printing services or for added convenience, online printing services. Uprinting, for example, is an online printing service that offers calendar printing using standard or customized designs and sizes.
