I'm sure that most of you are familiar with drop card, or sizzle card marketing. For those of you that aren't, I will attempt to explain it here.
A sizzle card, sometimes referred to as a drop card, is a simple and efficient way to prospect. A sizzle card is generally the size and shape of an ordinary business card. It contains a teaser message (the sizzle), like "Make Money From Home" and a phone number or web site address.
Sizzle cards are usually made from a bright-colored card stock. Their purpose is to get noticed, so the brighter - the better. If the sizzle card gets noticed, so will the business it's marketing.
The sizzle message on the card should be short and enticing. The idea is to give just enough information to pique someone's curiosity and get them to take action.
The sizzle card should contain either a phone number, web site or both. When people discover a sizzle card, they are usually not close to a computer. A phone number might be more effective for those with a short attention-span. If it just has a web site address listed, it may get put it away until computer access becomes available. By them, the excitement may have passed and the card may just stay tucked away in a billfold or purse.
Here are some uses for sizzle cards:
- Just hand them out* Place on ATM's
- Tack to a community bulletin board
- Place in books and magazines
- Place under windshield wipers
- Set on benches in the mall
- Include them in your bill payments
Sizzle cards are a very effective way to market services and products. If you haven't considered using them for your business, maybe you should give it a try. The best strategy is to get a lot of cards out there. You should take them everywhere that you go and remember to distribute them.
If you can use a word processor or publisher software, then you can create your own sizzle cards. If you design a sizzle message and take it to a printer, they can put multiple images on a page, print them and cut them for you. You can do more or less of the work based on you skill level.
