How to Write SEO Articles

Just the words SEO article can strike fear into the heart of writers and readers alike. The images of nonsensical articles filled with keyword upon keyword makes many an Internet user groan with disgust. And while many websites continue to use such fodder, it is imperative that Internet business owners learn that there is a distinct difference between nonsense and eloquence. If you don't wish to hire someone to write SEO articles for you, then you can write your own. The effectiveness of such an article is in the execution of the writing and research.

Finding an Appropriate Topic

First, determine your topic. What information are you trying to convey? If you want specific ideas, use your basic topic to find relative keywords to inspire you. Bring up the Google or Overture free keyword tool and type in your keyword or phrase. Find the most searched for keywords. For example, if you have a pool supply store and you type in 'swimming pools', you find that the most common SEO keywords are 'in ground pools'. So perhaps you should focus an article on the care and cleaning of in ground pools or on the benefits of in ground pools vs. above ground pools. Keep in mind that statistics show that most Internet users search for two word phrases more than anything else.

Tips on Writing Great SEO Articles

Secondly, write the article. Don't worry about perfection. The key to writing anything, including writing SEO articles, is to write it. You can edit out all of the errors later. While writing, don't over saturate your article with keywords. You want the words to flow and not be so full of SEO keywords that it seems as if you've written in a different language. Let the words flow naturally. If you need to go back and plug in any keywords then you can. You want a coherent text that draws your reader's interest. Your audience will only continue to read if information is relevant to them. If your SEO article is just a thrown together jumble of words, they will quit reading before the end of the article. Keep in mind that keywords should only be used as 3-5% of your total article. That means the ratio of how many times your keyword or phrase is mentioned in regards to the total number of words in your entire article.

Articles with a Purpose

Third, keep in mind the end purpose of your SEO article. Is it to draw traffic to your website? Is it to sell something? When you get people to your site, what is it that you want them to do? Are you attempting to get readers for your newsletter? Perhaps you're trying to sell your services. Whatever you are trying to accomplish, you need to keep your purpose in mind when writing the article. Without good information written in an organized manner, your audience will soon leave your website and find another that will provide them with quality information.

Editing Your Articles

Once your SEO article is completed, it is time to edit, edit and edit some more. Check the page for spelling mistakes. Don't rely solely on spell-check because this tool will not change 'to' into 'too'. Use spell-check, then read over your article and look for grammar mistakes. When that is finished, go back and read your article aloud. Reading it aloud will sometimes help you catch mistakes that your eyes glanced over the first time around. Once you are sure that you're SEO article is free from errors, you're ready to publish.
