Poster Printing for Beginners

Posters are textual and graphical artworks meant to be displayed or hung from a vertical wall. Posters date back to as far as 200 years, mostly for attracting people to a specific political viewpoint, news and announcements or a new product or service. Because posters are important artworks, you must be careful when designing your poster. Here are some of the most important things you need to consider before making your first poster.

4 Things to Consider before Printing a Poster

What is it about? It is all about the concept and where you want to go with it. Before you can go ahead with poster printing, you need to brainstorm on the kind of message you want to convey. If you are promoting an event, your poster needs to have images that are appealing to your target crowd. If you want to make a decorative poster to enter in a competition, go through the contest regulations thoroughly before coming up with ideas how to design your poster.

Gather the materials you want to use. Consider where you intend to hang your poster, for how long and what's it for. There are posters that make readers tear off a stub containing contact information, a somewhat interactive feature for the poster maker. For posters to be displayed outdoors, you will need something that can withstand the elements. Coated paper is usually the material of choice. Glossy is great for outdoor display while a matte-print poster is good for indoor display.

Decide on the design and text layout. A good marriage of text and image is pivotal in making your posters attractive. Text must not be crowded but should be clear, and legible. Images must be interesting to the targeted audience.

How many posters do you need? This question relates to two things: the budget and the printing solution you will choose. Choose the online printing solution that will give you the flexibility of digital or offset printing. UPrinting has a variety of printing choices that will fit almost any budget.
