Poster Printing for Graphic Designers

Graphic designs love to work on posters because it gives them freedom to experiment with all sorts of design concepts and principles. As a designer, you want to have the freedom to create unique images that will stand out and attract the most attention. Here are some tips that can help a budding designer come up with new and exciting designs.

4 Important Ideas on Designing for Posters

Use attention-grabbing images. If you are making a poster that's pushing for an advocacy, it may be a good idea to use somewhat shocking images to make a point. Be careful not to go overboard. Do not use images that are too sensitive or can be subject to censorship, especially those for public display. Use your creativity to pique the imagination. Use just enough to make them read the message or get that phone number.

Keep it simple. In some cases, simple designs create the most impact. The promotion of a large concert or a major event can be best achieved by making an all-text poster that will downplay the event. A form of visual litotes can be very persuasive.

Stay within the prescribed color scheme. Although you will be told by a client to let your imagination run wild, you will still need to adhere to basic color coordination rules. An organized chaos, if you will, can work wonders for your poster. Do not use too many fonts especially those are most commonly seen and used. For text, seek out new fonts that will add depth to your images. If you can't decide on which font to use, San Serif will usually do the trick.
