If the majority of your business is done locally, then the distribution of promotional items such as pens is a lot easier as well as less expensive. Drop off your pens around town: Whenever you go out, take a couple boxes of logo printed pens with you. Leave a few on the counter at the bank, leave some behind when you shop for groceries, leave them wherever you go. Do you get the picture? Your pens will not be there when you return next time. They will be in people's pockets, homes and offices promoting your business.
Take some to your local restaurants: Everyone loves free pens and restaurants go through their share of pens. Let restaurants local to you have fifty each to use. If you return in a few weeks, they will probably have very few left. Give them some more. Their customers could become your customers.
Put pens on your counter: If you have customers that visit your office or shop, be sure to have a few pens in reception. Your customers can use them while they are their and then take them with them when they leave.
Hand them out at social gatherings: Promotional pens are better than business cards. Many companies use promotional pens now instead of business cards because they are used and looked at much more than the old fashioned card is.
Use them as a discount token: Along with your details, print something like "Show this pen when you visit and receive a 10% discount." You may be surprised how many people take you up on it. Make sure they keep the pen to continue promoting your business.
