We're going to stick our necks out on this one. Video marketing is the best and most powerful online marketing tool available to the eCommerce entrepreneur. The internet has assisted in creating a visually oriented culture. DoubleClick tells us that visitors are five times more likely to click on an online video ad than an ad without video. Some sites report use of streaming video increased their conversion rate by 33%. Impressive statistics.
The social media phenomenon sent use of video on the web out the roof. Technology has improved so dramatically that the problems of file compression and maintaining quality have been resolved. You can click on video ads today and they begin immediately, usually with excellent quality.
We have already talked about the importance of identifying your audience and developing a strategy for how you are going to get your video produced (Parts 1 and 2). Now we will tell you what we think you need to do to insure your compelling and high quality video gets attention.
First, we recommend you start the easy way. Don't start with compelling and high quality. Create your own with the video function on your digital camera or with your cell phone video feature. Get the hang of putting a video together and post it on your personal page in a social media web site. Go through the process so you can identify all the steps we have already talked about. There's nothing like a little practice to get it right.
Second, create a blog either on your own site or a related site or a blogger site. Doesn't matter which. Get the blog started and then begin adding videos. You will already have uploaded pictures and images you want to share with the world. Now start to add videos. And make these the compelling and high quality variety. Once your videos are up, you have begun to tell visitors about your product or service and Voila! Cyberspace surfers and searchers find you because you already identified your target market. People interested in what you have to say and sell self-select and join your blog. Video blog marketers have already created a name for themselves... vblogs or vlogs for short. New technology now even allows vlogs to be downloaded on PDAs, IPODS and the new iPhone.
Third, generate traffic. Optimize the distribution of your videos. A good SEO plan is still required to get traffic to your site. There is no short cut. Once traffic is steadily visiting your site, your compelling and high quality videos will provide convincing messages to your customers.
Today video marketing means companies communicate to their customers in ways undreamed of a decade ago. Don't get complacent. Be aware that in another few years, other marketing tools will be developed and will augment or even replace video marketing. Videos and vlogs are the most popular now. They won't be in a few years. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for the next technological frontrunner that will revolutionize cyberspace yet again.
