One thing I skipped when I got married was the prior arrangements for bridal portraits. Eventhough I believed they might have been very good to possess, I decided that I really didn't want to get dressed up in my wedding dress and pay to have my hair done before my wedding, only to have to do it all over again for the actual wedding day.
I understand bridal portraits are significant to some future brides, but for me,it wasn't something that I felt I needed to do and not only saving money to skip them. For some reason, I wanted to be dressed up in my dress and looking splendid on my wedding day only. I thought that the second time would not be as special.
I was right. I would not have felt as good if I had put my dress on for bridal portraits before the wedding day, and I certainly didn't feel like doing it after the event. Instead, I did all the photos I needed the day of the event and it stayed that way. I know the reason why many agree to do the bridal portraits, and I can also understand the reason this is an advantage to some.
The principal explanation is that they don't feel stressed or rushed, and they don't feel they are making guests waiting around for them to finish on their wedding day. It really diminishes the amount of time spent with the photographer after the main event, and I believe all the wedding guests would love that.
For some though, the bridal portraits adventure becomes more significant than the wedding day. A friend of mine told me so. She is a wonderful young woman, but she is kind of hung up on what her parents expect of her. They wanted a very large portrait to hang in their home, and that was that. She had to keep the photos down as much as she could on the wedding day and that is why they wanted her to have it done prior to the bid day. She booked a rendez-vous for her bridal portraits and said she had a lot of fun doing them, but she also told me she thought it took away from the wedding day a bit for her. Each woman should decide for herself, and it will not be very important in the end. The important issue here is to make the experience what the couples dreams it to be, and not to be hung up on what others believe is right for them. If a bride believes it might take away from how she feels on her big day, they should be skipped. No harm done.
