Does Separation Save Marriage?

The question is often pondered, “Does Separation save marriage”. The fact of the matter is that the results vary. Separation is not a decision that should be rushed into. Like divorce there seems to be a destructive descent into finality that accompanies this type of action. Regardless of how strong a marriage seems to be there are times when the subject of separation arises in the midst of turmoil. Instead of couples bonding closer during the darkest hour all too often they turn on each other to relieve the pressure that engulfs them. This is destructive.

There are many things to consider before a couple decides upon separation. For example, are there kids involved? This is not to say that a couple should remain together for a lifetime simply in lieu of the children but their feelings should always be considered and nurtured accordingly. Separation should not be used as an excuse to see other people. It should not be planned as a permanent solution. Separation should be a temporary action taken only as a last resort to allow tempers to calm down and hearts and souls to energize.

If you separate and then rent your own apartment for the long haul then you are on the wrong track. If you separate you should simply go stay with a friend or family for a little while to clear your head. Does separation save marriage, only if both partners are willing to utilize the time apart wisely and properly? This period should never be taken lightly. The longer the separation the less likely the marriage will be saved.

The question of whether or not does separation save marriage is inconclusive. In the end it is not the separation that saves the marriage but rather the couple involved. Both partners in the union have to dedicate themselves to using the time of separation in a productive way that will benefit the marriage. If this is done then separation can save marriage.
