We all need daily attention to our needs and all relationships need attention to grow. In our lives as we go about our duties we tend to focus on what the problems are, and this happens also in marriages, we tend to not pay attention to them until there is a problem. This is not the best way to approach marriage.
Both your spouse and your marriage require attention on an ongoing basis to help it be healthy. Don't wait until there is a problem happening to turn your attention to the marriage. You should spend the time every day to nurture your relationship. Below is some simple advice about helping everything stay happy.
Verbalize Your Love. It's important to all people to know they are loved and this especially goes doubly true for spouses. Every day say something about your love for them. Kind Acts. Try to find a way to do something kind for your spouse. It may be just letting them sleep in and keeping noise down but do something to show you care. Avoid Fights. There are always times when you'll disagree, but try to get to the real reson and resolve it.
Show Respect. Always show respect to your spouse. Use words like please and thank you and even when they are out of earshot, always speak of them with kindness and love. Work Together. There are always two sides to everything, but work to get on the same page as your spouse, whether you are raising children together or just running a household together, you will find that working together creates not only harmony in your household, but in your marriage as well.
Most importantly, invest time and energy in your spouse everyday. Take time away from everything else to communicate with them so that they know how you are feeling and you know how they are feeling. Sharing and communication are the two best ways to keep your marriage on track.
