Couples can love one another and yet find themselves drifting apart and headed for a divorce. There are steps you can take, with or without the aid of your spouse to get your marriage back into the loving place it once was. You can save your marriage and rebuild it into a more connected, satisfying relationship. Divorce does not have to be your only option. Even if it feels as though your relationship can't be saved because of the ongoing conflicts between you and your spouse, it can be. There are techniques that you can begin using today that will not only stop a divorce, but will help also you build a stronger and more loving marriage.
If you are facing a conflict in your relationship and you truly want to save your marriage, divorce shouldn't even be a consideration until you've exhausted all reconciliation avenues. Marriage is not an easy journey and many couples who find themselves at a crossroads, simply decide that the best solution is to dissolve the relationship. If you still love your spouse and you want to keep your family intact, you have options. You don't have to settle on a future without your spouse. There are steps you can take now, with or without your spouse's aid, to strengthen the marriage and rebuild the lost love.
In your situation, you may be the only one who wants to save your marriage. Divorce may be on the mind of your spouse and it's painful to hear them talk about breaking up the family and the relationship. Arguing with them non-stop about this is not going to help you to reach a healthy conclusion. If you are on opposite ends of the issue and you are the one who doesn't want to even consider the idea of a trial separation, reconsider it now. Many people don't fully realize the power of distance. If your spouse is insistent on moving out, allow it. Appear to accept it. Once they have left, they'll realize how much they miss you. This is what you want and can be the basis for rebuilding an even stronger relationship once they realize what they risk losing.
You must also listen to your spouse if you want to save your marriage. Divorce often occurs because one partner just doesn't feel valued in the relationship. If he or she needs to vent about you or the relationship, allow it. Encourage it even. Give them a platform to express what they are feeling without fear of being verbally attacked or criticized. This is a very important step towards rebuilding your marriage and putting your family back together.
