Impotence or erectile dysfunction is a condition where a man is unable to get an erection and maintain it, so that he will be able to derive satisfaction out of sexual intercourse.
This condition could highly affect a man's life because his inability to provide pleasure to himself or to his mate is a factor that could draw him into depression or anxiety.
A man's impotence could also lead to low self-esteem and even break-up of marriages or relationships. Because this problem is already becoming quite common nowadays, especially among aging men, quite a lot of treatments have been presented for it.
Impotence is actually associated with health problems and these could include heart diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, disorders of the nervous system and even depression. Erectile dysfunction could also be attributed to the side-effects of some medications. There are now many men having impotence problems, who approach doctors for help.
It would really help if you could find a doctor who is not only an expert about impotence but who is compassionate enough to make you understand about the problem and lead you through the different types of treatments available. The treatment options include medications, hormonal therapy, intraurethral suppositories, external vacuum devices, penile injections and even sex counseling. It is actually up to a patient on which type of treatment he would go for.
If you are one those who are having problems with impotence, then you should know that the most important component to the successful treatment and management of your problem is actually the support of your mate. This is especially true when it comes to sex counseling, because it has to be the two of you who would have to face the therapist.
Remember that if both of you will handle this problem together, greater satisfaction as well as intimacy could be achieved not only in your sexual relation but in your relationship, in general. Your successful treatment will also eliminate depression and anxiety symptoms.
There is another method that has been proven to effectively treat impotence and that is hypnotherapy. If you want apply this method, then you could go to an experienced hypnotherapist, who will help you overcome your problem through unblocking the barriers in your subconscious that could have caused your impotence.
Once these barriers have been eliminated, there is greater chance that you will regain the normal function of your male member. Once this happens, not only will you be able to experience greater sexual satisfaction, you will also be able to foster a better relationship with your partner as well.
