Watching TV!? No way! Yes, I know. We have all heard about how TV is this and that...some of us even tell our children how "bad" it is to indulge. But not in this case...Watching TV during a panic attack works for a lot of people. Because of the fun things you can watch on TV, your mind is not only gotten off the attack but the attack itself is brought to an end. Try watching a kids' TV show when you're having a panic attack for example. They have great outcomes and are generally "happy" shows. Watching good TV has the effect getting your breathing back to normal and calming you down. This has been a success in the lives of many people for years; even it may sound a little bit silly.
#4 Step To Overcoming Panic Attack: Regain Control
Feeling out of control is mostly the trigger of your panic attack. Does this have to be the case? No! Doing something you have "complete" control over is really all you need to do to regain that feeling of control. An example would be doing the dishes, or wiping the floor or something. This gives you the feeling of accomplishing something while the action is also one you are totally in charge of.
#5 Step To Overcoming Panic Attack: Be Alone
Going somewhere you can be alone is our final step. Keep in mind that the panic attack won't kill you. A place where you can be alone and think is just what you may need. Not only will you be fine, this will also calm you down.
