Pros and Cons of Hair Replacement

There are a variety of advantages to having hair replacement surgery, but there are also some disadvantages.

It's important to have a realistic understanding of what kind of results you can reasonably expect from the surgery, and understand that the results may not be exactly what you were hoping for.

Some of the advantages customers of KW's Hair Replacement Systems finds with hair replacement surgery are an improved appearance. They often like the way they look much better after the surgery.

They also report an increased self-confidence as the result of hair replacement. No longer concerned about their appearance when they meet new people, they can focus on others and on putting their best on the forefront.

Some negatives associated with hair replacement surgery include concerns about hair replacement cost. The cost may be figured per graft or per hair follicle, but either way, it can become a little more expensive than the patient first anticipates.

Many find that the positive results from the surgery outweigh concerns about cost, but that needs to be a consideration in the decision making process.

Another positive about hair replacement is how simple it is. The procedure is often an outpatient process that takes only 2 to 4 hours each session. There are generally multiple sessions to complete the looks that are desired.

Another con with hair replacement surgery is that all procedures for hair replacement use the patient's existing hair. The true goal of any hair replacement procedures such as KW's Hair Replacement Systems is to use existing hair in the most efficient way possible.

This means than anyone who wants to take advantage of hair replacement procedures needs to have healthy hair already, usually on the sides or in the back of the head. For most hair replacement procedures, hair plugs or flaps are taken from the "donor" area of the scalp and grafted into the bald areas.

This means surgical procedures and the associated risks. Although the risks with procedures such as KW's Hair Replacement Systems are minimal, there is the possibility of infection, scarring, or lack of success.

There may be some swelling around the eyes and on the forehead, and it's possible that you will have scars in the donor area that aren't completely covered by your natural hair growth.

Some factors may be positive or negative, depending on your individual situation. For example, the ideal candidates for hair replacement surgery are over 25. Having the surgery at too young an age is not recommended, since hair loss is likely to become more severe. It also makes it difficult for a doctor to know where to get donor hair, since there is no way of telling where hair loss will occur in the future.

It's challenging for some that, even if hair replacement cost is not an issue, if a person's hair loss is too severe, they may not have enough natural hair to provide donor grafts. In this case, hair replacement is not recommended.
