When you go in to see the doctor, he or she will want to know about your symptoms. This blood test will be an erythrocyte sedimentation rate or ESR, which will explain to the doctor if there are any inflammations happening in your body. In addition to this screening, one called a rheumatoid arthritis blood test will be taken which tells your doctor if you have this abnormal antibody in your blood.

In addition to this type of exam, an x-ray will usually be done to confirm what your doctor probably already knows, that you have a rheumatoid condition and which type it is. From that understanding, you both will work towards finding treatment options that simply work for treating the pain and the loss of motion that you feel.
