What is Meditation?

What is Meditation ? this is the question which occurs in the mind of almost every one at different stages sometime to start meditation and even sometime to further continue the meditation. So, with the grace of almighty, I will try the address the above question in this Article.

To deal with the above question first of all we need to know or rather explore that what is the meditation. If you read / discuss with other, there are many definitions of what meditation is and every person has reasons why to meditate. Essentially though meditation is a spiritual practice and the purpose of this is to explore the basis nature of what we are....... and who we are.

Even though the theoretical view is that the aim of meditation is to still the mind and then transcend this plane of existence. However, by all methods, the purpose of meditation is to identify oneself with the ego, here when we in deep the ego is even the very though or feeling of his own existence. So, the aim or purpose of meditation is to go inwards until a state of consciousness is experienced as being pure awareness, hence, meditation is for achieving the state consciousness. Now, the question may arise what is the state of consciousness, this state of consciousness means a state where there is no separation between subject and object or you may say like duality between the inner and outer world / reality disappears and we experience being as one with everyone / everything. The Experience in this state of consciousness is like full liberation form all bondages / limits and we become one with everything.

Now, the question may arise whether this is possible to be in the state of consciousness all this time?

This Answer is, yes, it is possible to be in this state for every moment and it is tremendously liberating experience too. After regular practice, ultimately, it becomes a very ‘normal’ state for us and our whole life becomes meditation, because, in this state all the time we are in meditation. This state commonly called as ‘Samadhi’ or “God Unity Consciousness”.

This is what some may call as enlightenment. But, reaching this state is not the end rather it’s only the beginning. Because, the persons on Spiritual Path say, when we can remain in the state of God unity consciousness and yet be fully engaged in material world without being identified with it, then only we have reached the state of full enlightenment.

When we let go the desires, we surrender to the natural pull of the soul and the soul takes us each to a journey of more deeper realizations, because the spiritual wisdom holders says this soul always want to pull towards gods realization but this is because of the counter pull effect of worldly desires we pulls back to this materials world again and again.

So, when we practice to be in the God Consciousness state the worldly desires disappears itself because, darkness cannot remain in the light of consciousness and the even a spark of light through away the whole darkness.
